On the road again. Those mission bells on what's supposed to be a bishop's staff, are set up along US-101 from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. They're supposed to mark El Camino Real, the route of the mission Padres.

A rather simple style chilaquiles. Pretty tasty. A guy my partner knew who is from Zacatecas said that he's used to chilaquiles not being all drenched in red salsa.

Gilroy, California bills itself as the "Garlic Capital of the World," after all.

Vertigo!

Vertigo, yes! I love that movie and have seen it many many times. Many years ago, my partner and I did a "Vertigo" tour of SF, where we stopped at some of the landmarks, like Fort Point, Madeleine Elster's apartment building, etc. Hehe sometimes I joke that we should do a "Zodiac Killer" tour of the Bay Area. Yes, SJB is indeed a lovely little town.

This was our first time stopping in Gilroy; we've only ever driven through it.

Yup, our ultimate destination was San Francisco. I'll be posting pictures of it either today or tomorrow...

I really need to go on a road trip along the coast, it’s been way too long. Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing.

Wow, San Juan Bautista looks like an amazing town! It looks like a mix between an old California mission town (like Old Town San Diego), which is to be expected; a Mexican town, which also is historically to be expected; and a Wild West town. That pink house in the first picture reminds me of the Balcony House in Nassau, Bahamas!

Yes, he used a matte painting.

Hitch was also really into rear projection, in many of his films. He was the kind of director who preferred shooting in a soundstage, because then he would have full control over the lighting, etc.
