CÓRDOBA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Ingeniero Aeronáutico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport (IATA: COR, ICAO: SACO), more commonly known as Pajas Blancas, is located 9 km (5.6 mi) north-northwest away from the center of Córdoba, the capital city of the Córdoba Province. The airport covers an area of 1,020 ha (2,520 acres) and is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A. Cordoba is currently[when?] Argentina's third-largest airport, after Ministro Pistarini International Airport and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, both of which are located in Buenos Aires. The airport had been a jetport for a long time,[clarification needed] but it had been lacking the size to receive larger numbers of passengers until Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, a private company that operates several airports in Argentina, decided to give internal Argentine airports more money so that they could expand and lure more airlines. Up until that moment, the Taravella airport, which was named after an architect, only had one story and one terminal. The construction of a second and third floor began in 2000, designed by prominent local architect Mario Roberto Álvarez; by 2002, it was finished and Aerolíneas Argentinas decided to make the Taravella airport a hub for domestic flights. The airport is equipped with the necessary lights to have night air traffic, but pilots flying there, especially pilots of light aircraft, are recommended to look out for birds, as there is quite a substantial number of them inhabiting the areas nearby.

AEROPARQUE JORGE NEWBERY - BUENOS AIRES

Like all the other sites of the coast of the city, the Jorge Newbery Airport was built in reclaimed wetland, in front of the Río de la Plata. Paradoxically, it’s located in front of some of the tallest skyscrapers of Argentina, on the Palermo and Belgrano neighborhoods, such as the Le Parc Palermo, Le Parc Figueroa Alcorta, the Libertador 4444, and several other towers. The airport is used for domestic flights, but it is also used for international flights, specially to the neighboring countries (Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brasil). Among the airlines who operate in the airport are: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Austral, LAN Airlines, Gol, AeroChaco, LADE, and TAM.

EZEIZA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MINISTRO PISTARINI) - BUENOS AIRES

The Ministro Pistarini International Airport, usually called Ezeiza Airport for being in the Department of Ezeiza, is the door of Buenos Aires to the world. Because it is placed on geographical area of the world who has low air traffic, the Ezeiza International Airport acts as a final destination, mostly for the people who specifically goes to Buenos Aires, unlike other airports of the world who act as HUBs. When it was built in 1949, it was the biggest airport in the world. Its three runways on an “A” letter shape are part of the old system of runways, often used in other airports, that a few decades later proved to be obsolete, being only two of them operational today. It was cataloged as the best airport of South America and among the bussiest international routes of Ezeiza are San Pablo (code: GRU), Santiago de Chile (code: SCL), and Miami (MIA). Among the bussiest routes to Europe are the Barajas International Airport of Madrid (code: MAD) and Rome-Fiumicino (code: FCO).

Rosario - Fisherton International Airport

Rosario – Islas Malvinas International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Rosario – Islas Malvinas) from the center of Rosario, a city in the Santa Fe Province of Argentina. The airport covers an area of 550 ha (1,400 acres) and is operated by the Province of Santa Fe. The airport serves the Greater Rosario area and is the main hub for Sol Líneas Aéreas and is also served by Aerolíneas Argentinas, Gol Transportes Aéreos and TAM Linhas Aereas. There are domestic flights within Argentina from Rosario to Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Puerto Iguazú, San Carlos de Bariloche, El Calafate, Mar del Plata (via Buenos Aires), Mendoza (vía Córdoba), Santa Fe (via Buenos Aires) and Villa Gesell (only in summer, via Buenos Aires) cities as well as international services to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Punta del Este, Uruguay (direct flight in summer and via Buenos Aires in fall, winter and spring). The airport is at an altitude of 26 m (85 ft)and the runway is 3,000 m × 60 m (9,843 ft × 197 ft). A new terminal was constructed between 2003 and 2004, making Rosario effectively an international airport. Because of being so close to Buenos Aires (340 km (210 mi)), direct flights between them are not common. In the first years of the 21st century the Rosario Airport has progressively lost air traffic volume, even after it was updated and expanded in 2003–2004. In 2005 there were only 1,807 flights, about 75% less than in 2000. Among the reasons cited are low ticket prices compared to the increased cost of fuel, the lack of a national air transportation policy, and the existence of a cheaper and fast alternative (the Rosario-Buenos Aires Highway). The airport's name reflects Argentina's claims of sovereignty over the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas in Spanish), and could be translated as "Rosario – Falkland Islands International Airport".
