Gritty Cities
Thought I'd start a thread dedicated to found photo grit. I'll kick it off with a photo album from Steve Rollo on Flickr. He covers Newburgh, NY which is a Hudson River city which has been experiencing a severe decline ove the past several decades. Though there are efforts underway to stabilize the city, mixed results.

Here's an album from Joe Augstell on Flickr covering some grit in Buffalo, NY. It's mostly abandoned houses, but there's some other stuff in there too.

A sunrise shot of downtown the early morning haze adds to the gritty feel in the foreground the soon to be hopefully not so gritty Michigan Central Depot.

Cairo, Illinois has had a rather checkered past, and over the last 100 years has gone from over 15,000 residents to a bit over 2,000.
More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairo,_Illinois Here's a link to some Flickr pics from Bruce Wicks. Some nice buildings, but also plenty of abandoned grit: https://www.flickr.com/photos/touris...57624296474196 :( |
