"The Fair Charmer, M.A. Fuller, 206 N. New Hampshire, Los Angeles." Apt. 106.

What in blue blazes is that in the audience, on the right?

Let's take a closer look.

The seller describes the snake charmer as an exotic woman...but I'm not so sure.

Here's a bit of a mystery.

Has anyone heard of a Valley Market Town?

6127 Sepulveda Blvd. Van Nuys, Calf.

It somewhat reminds me of the Farmer's Market.

It would be interesting to figure out where these women have set up their booth.

I wonder what is meant by "The House of Davis".

I immediately thought of the House of David. (the midwest cult that had a baseball team)

Here's the back but it doesn't offer any clues. (that I can see)

Did all snake charmers have mad hair in the olden days?

"Valley Market Town Shopping Center at 6127 Sepulveda Boulevard near Oxnard was a popular spot for post war families after
it opened in 1947. The center offered free babysitting and dog kennels and featured the Sepulveda Drive In Theater. By 1954 the
complex had been renamed Mr. Carter's Market Place, after businessman Victor M. Carter."

Did anyone else notice the matching bas-reliefs on the two (stubby) towers of the recently-mentioned Taul Bldg. (same on both towers; a bit blurry because much enlarged)?

Can anyone tell me what their significance might be?

That's not the Taul Building, it was across the street and was taller. It looks like the bas-reliefs are just some kind of pattern.

This story would not make the papers today. But if Elsie had been married to her snake, that would probably make the papers today I guess. Maybe not page 1, but page 10, small story: "Woman fatally bitten by husband in marital spat"

Oops! I had thought at the time that it seemed a bit short for a building to throw one's self off of! Meantime, the pattern looked to me like a friendly bear or something. Just what is in these pills you gave me, doctor???

:previous: Thanks for figuring out the location, Hoss.

The building, built in 1928, is in much better shape than I initially thought. ...If anyone would like to check it out go to 3517 Marathon St....or.. openlistings.com

In fairness, in the pic you posted it did look like a friendly bear to me, but I'm a Bruin so I tend to see bears in everything.

This afternoon's mystery post is a rare original snapshot of a Van de Kamp's bakery that was located on Pasadena Ave.

Currently on eBay

and the reverse...

I have two questions:

1....What is the office mentioned at the bottom. At first I thought they meant Van de Kamp's offices
but I believe the windmill bakery at that location was on the same side of the street. Also it appears to say..umm...Santa Fe office?

2....The building next to the bakery, on the right, appears to be a real estate office (somewhat of a guess). And it looks like an Egyptian themed storefront
has been built in front of a two story house. Does anyone have information on a "Lee" real estate office in the area?

Let's take a closer look.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/v8pOPi.jpg

I thought the building on the left might be a snow themed building (we've seen them before), but I'm pretty sure it's just the side of a normal building. (darn)

It could be a hospital with labs (note all the conduit)..but I'm at a loss for a name.

hmm...or maybe that isn't conduit.
