MONTREAL | C-Lofts | 22 FLOORS
I think it's about time there was a thread for this one.
Little project that kind of popped out of nowhere a couple weeks ago. A 20 storey highrise on de la Concorde street right next to the Peterson. It is to be a rental apartment building, supposedly. Due date is summer 2014. Orientation: Courtesy of Furtado on mtlurb: http://www.mtlurb.com/forums/attachm...2&d=1353934707 http://www.mtlurb.com/forums/attachm...2&d=1353934707 For now, there are very few details, no renderings but plenty of activity on the site. Took these pictures this morning after work, the digging has commenced: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8225/8...d8a40b1c_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8226/8...19021505_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8374/8...78bdfc87_c.jpg |
Can a mod please swing this into the Montreal P&C thread?

Bah whatever, it's the peterson's fault if it does suffer. They chose to make the tower 34 floors in the first place, and then knocked it down to 31. If anything, the Mcgill residence tower might convince the developers of perterson to make this tower taller. Like a little extra 9 floors?
|
I noticed that the website now redirects to clofts.ca (which has no content).
I wonder if there will be a change of name? |
Passed by today, work is being done at least. Wouldn't it be great if the change of direction of this project also meant a height increase? Like say, an extra 20 floors?
|
I like how this project is going. We normally get lots of announcements, renderings and PR stuff before anything happens, this one IS happening and we still don't know what it's going to be. It will be a suprise!
|
Watch it turns out to be a 1 story Tim Hortons - oh sh!t! No wonder why we say no renderings! LOL

There should be more rental towers in downtown. I want to see 30 and 40 floor rental unit towers pop up all over the place. Makes a lot of sense as many a people seek to live downtown but can't afford condos.

We now have a visual ID
milboul on mtlurb http://mtlurb.com/forums/attachment....1&d=1373852164 It's 22 floors. |
Mediocre infill at best. Will have absolutely no affect (although it should block Le Peterson quite well. I'm not convinced that it will turn out well at all.)
|
Ouash. I'm at a loss for words - this is going right downtown? What a POS.
|
It's on de la Concorde, and it's student residences. And a bigger, uglier building called Le Peterson will upstage this one but good.
Anyways, what were we really expecting, this is Montreal. City of low standards and pre-fab. |
isnt le peterson further down de la concorde though? looks like this turd will be the one doing the upstaging, even though the peterson will be taller - at least from most angles, including coming up bleury from place des festivals.
either way, between these three amigos (including le concorde) and the garden inn just above, this block should handily win the Great Canadian Aesthetics Race to the Botom. |
Le Peterson will be immediately west of C-Lofts. It will replace the 7 storey office building presently standing.
|
Floors 7 and up look pretty decent but I don't like the lack of detail on the podium/ground floors.
|
It isn't great by any means but it looks better than some buildings I see from my office: Le Griffix and the Cours Windsor buildings (if that's what they're called)
|
It's Jardins Windsor, and you're right. But this one is also in a higher profile location, right by the place des festivals.
