I live about 5 minutes away from there but have never actually made the trip down.
I think it's getting a bit cold for the nude beach thing. |

A nude beach in Vancouver? With average highs of just 20 degrees in July and August, who would ever be brave enough enough to take off all of their clothes there?

^Regardless it's a pretty popular spot for much of the year. If you think you'd have issues in July/August, how about March or April like these pics of mine from a couple years back...

So where're the nudes?

Swimming at the beach in 20-degree weather? You're a polar bear! |
^ The water is really shallow there and gets trapped by the tide. By midday the water can reach the high 70s in the summer. It's by far the most pleasant place to swim in Vancouver. Spanish Banks is nice as well.
|
I remember taking a dip at Spanish Banks during the summer and it was a pretty interesting experience. You'd be enjoying the warmth for 5 seconds, then suddenly get a blast of cold water. I wonder if that's because some of the water from the Fraser drifts around there.

Quite an uneventful thread, considering the title!

Those stairs leading down to the beach are a killer, on the way back up at least!
Nice pics, btw! |

The 20 degree Celsius average in July is just that - an average. Usually it's much warmer than that on a sunny day in July. It's the rainy/cloudy days that bring that average down, usually.
I was out at UBC on Saturday and at the top of those cliffs, the maple trees were beautiful - lots of brilliant oranges. About nudity at Wreck Beach, you see it in the height of summer, not when it's wool-coat-wearing season. As well, you probably won't see much in photography because photography there is generally frowned upon. Wreck Beach has a huge community of regulars, and there's an unspoken etiquette about what you do when you're there. Taking pictures of naked people is not generally considered acceptable there. |
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to be fully clothed when temperatures aren't particularly warm. I would think most men wouldn't want to be fully exposed when temperatures are cool. I mean do any of us want to be underestimated??? :P

Sorry, I'm just astounded that Vancouver has a nude beach, it's hard to believe. It seems incredible to me that people would sit around in the altogether when it's so cold. |
Yea. It's totally freezing here in the 20 degree climate eh?

Didn't you say in one other thread that you spent one day in Vancouver? Vancouver gets high 20s and low 30s days in the summer. Don't kid yourself. |
