I'd like to know what camera he used for that. Looks like a pretty expensive one.

And you are?

Compared to Europe, America represented upward mobility. Read tocqueville, the whole premise of that book is that America was way more free then in Europe.

Just because you think america is this mean "poor from birth to death" doesn't mean it fits the historic narrative. I can't speak of the last...60 years or so. But in American history, it is very much so true America offered more opportunity than in Europe for average people. Period.

Just as I thought! It's $6,379 just for the body alone. My Nikon D5200 was $1,400 depending on where you shop, even though that's not what I paid for mine. It has 24.1 MP, but I can't get images as slick as that without an expensive sensor to match.

I've got a degree in history, but I don't need that to point out an historical generalization that is so sweeping in scope that it cannot possibly be true.

"The masses flocked to the New World," as he phrased it, for many reasons. Economic opportunity was one reason. Other reasons were to escape from religious, political, and social persecution and escape from the negative effects of war, famine and pestilence. The idea that all who eventually populated North and South America moved here only to own a single-family house is obviously false.

Anyway, more skyline!

Well, of course generalizations like that are silly. I would suspect that person would be able to better explain(and maybe) and retract some of the more over the top-easy-to-happen-while-talking-over-the-Internet statements in person.

Guys, conversations like this are what turned me off to this website. I only came back here to keep my photo contribution going because I think it helps the city to grow if my capture can create more interest in Miami. It certainly was not to get involved in discussions such as these.

Really good picture! I like the building with the roof bridge with the circular hole. Wouldn't work in every city/setting but it's fun here.

That's 500 Brickell Avenue or Oculus designed by Arquitectonica based here in Miami. It's one of those designs that screams to be taller. Seems like a waste on such a short building. Lots of people like that design.
