ya ok but they have over the years been successful at keeping the city within city limits. which btw are actually not that vast. its a small city and to have the skyline it does is ridiculously out of whack. for example. edmonton is bigger than calgary. over all that is. when you include everything about the area.

If you only have 1 million people you call sprawl to your hearts content without the need of a vast territory within city limits. It's only now that Calgary is bumping up against that border. New sprawl is going outside to places like Okotoks, while growth inside city limits now means intensification.

Calgary's skyline has little to do with restraints on sprawl and everything to do with being a big head office city.

the original is about 18,000 pixels wide.

you should be selling these, this is tremendous. I've bought a couple of the panoramas they sell in SF souvenir shops and had them mounted on something like particle board and they arent nearly as nice as this. Great job man:tup:

thanks man. :) i do sell some of my stuff, but these in particular aren't big sellers. too much competition. more unique shots of other cities do better, particularly from vantage points that are difficult to reach. i've done this shot quite a few times and will make more as the skyline changes!

Winston-Salem
Most photographs of this city only show half the skyline. You have to find a high elevation photograph to see the whole skyline. I love the art deco building by Shreve, Lamb, and Harmon in the middle. It was 1929 Building of the Year. Winston-Salem had the "North Carolina's tallest skyscraper" title until the 1970s. Unfortunately, the award winning Republic Insurance Building, by Pickard Chilton, is hidden from view in this photograph.

Cambridge Massachusetts it is a smaller city but the skyline is decent sized and will likely undergo a huge transformation in the next few years with new taller height limits allowed in the central areas.

Definitely Agree. one of the newer condo buildings (right in the foreground, the Evo) has this view from the 24th floor and its great. if you look to your west (left) you see the highrises that line wilshire to Century City and the beach, and to your right you see the snow covered mountains in the distance. its really an epic shot. I would also like to point out that this view will look very different in about 18 months when the Wilshire grand tower will begin poking out and working its way up to 1100 feet. Add in the additional residential highrises that are under construction and you will have a fantastic shot

Seconded on this being a great shot. It's strengthened by being along the long edge of downtown. So many LA shots are from the south so the San Gabriel Mountains are right in the background, but then the skyline looks three blocks wide.
