I disagree. I think it's an A and the picture is just low resolution and badly compressed. I'm going to agree with the earlier guess that this is Santa Maria, and this board is southbound showing Santa Barbara and other cities, ending with Los Angeles. The board on the left would be northbound, mostly unreadable but I think the last entry on it is San Francisco.

So I think this bus depot/cafe is in Santa Maria.

While looking for pictures of the Central Manufacturing District, I found this one titled "Kantzinger [sic] Building in Downtown Los Angeles, 1934". According to the attached Examiner clipping dated September 1, 1934, "This three-story building in the central manufacturing district has just been acquired by the Edward Katzinger Company, Chicago, makers of bakery equipment and tinware."

I couldn't find an address, and after I'd spent a while looking around the area in the Googlemobile, I decided that it had probably been demolished along with so many of the other buildings. Then, while checking out GW's possible chapel on the CMDT building, I spotted a pair of matching buildings at the bottom of the picture below:

Looking southeast over Central Manufacturing District Terminal (large white building with tower), located on Loma Vista between 48th and 49th (now Vernon). The six-story terminal was built in 1923; neighboring warehouses, closely clustered together, fill the frame. Photograph dated August 5, 1955.

I think that the two buildings were actually mirror images of each other, with one at either side of Loma Vista Avenue on District Boulevard. That's where I found them still standing, albeit in almost unrecognizable form.

The current addresses, as they appear on the buildings, are 4440 and 4500 District Boulevard. The property sites give build dates of 1925 and 1924 (they're certainly visible on the 1927 aerial that I posted recently). I think that the Kantzinger building was the one on the right (4440), which now seems to have parking on the first floor. Despite all the changes, the stonework at ground level still shows the shape of the original design.

To complete the intersection, this building once stood across the road from the two above, opposite Loma Vista Avenue. The picture is dated circa 1938.

This 1932 Canada Dry's Pacific Coast factory is located at 4501 District Boulevard in Vernon. The signs read "Canada Dry, the champagne of ginger ale." The brick and terracotta factory was replaced with a tilt-up concrete building.

No, different locations. The one at 8351 Santa Monica Boulevard was just west of N Flores Street, which is now an "L"-shaped mall. From Historic Aerials, it looks like the mall was built between 1964 and 1972.

Two different buildings...8351 was/is on the nwc of SM & Flores St, 8325 is east of the corner.... the 8300 of SM block runs from Sweetzer to Kings Rd.

The levels above the current groundfloor club were said to become apt/condos over a dozen years ago-- it's waay overdue as this block otherwise is doing very well...

I was there many, many years ago; and yes, the club was the trading floor.

I used a Photoshop plugin that is supposed to do a superior job of preserving details when enlarging an image. Unfortunately we have to enlarge the image so much to see the board that some distortion happens anyway.

I've been trying to figure out how to settle whether this is in fact a photo from the Santa Maria Greyhound station. All I have discovered so far is that the current station at 400 E Boone Street is fairly new. Before that there was a "temporary" station at 755 W. Cypress Street from 2001 to late 2016. But where did it stand in the 1950s?

NB. I originally posted this image in post #17668, but due to ongoing problems at Photobucket, it's currently not showing (just like many other images of mine that are over 1024px wide). After receiving no reply from Photobucket's tech support for over two weeks, I emailed again on Friday. I got a pretty generic response saying, "This is a known issue affecting several users and our engineering team is troubleshooting the problem. We will get this resolved as soon as we can!" I hope it's not too long before the larger images are visible again.

Built in 1929, right before the Great Crash. Nice timing (not).
