This thread is in need of some good old fashioned mountain/reflection shots. This is Lone Eagle Peak. I think it's one of Colorado's best hikes, best photography areas, and conveniently, it doesn't show up on any of the "best of" lists.
This is a recent trip, so I haven't had time to pick which ones I like best or play with the photos yet, other than to convert the raws to jpg and add a quick border. My 5-second shrink down blurred them, so sorry about that. The last photo is a vertical pano from my point and shoot, haha. Notice that by about 9am the flights into Denver for the day start intruding on the wilderness. Want a jet-free shot, you better start early! http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9..._0-12-48-0.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9..._0-12-48-0.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9..._0-12-48-0.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9..._0-12-48-0.jpg For good measure, the classic shot, supposedly the "most photographed mountains in Colorado." http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...819_border.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...867-border.jpg |
Love the contrasting colors. Looks suspiciously like a bob ross painting, in a good way.

Nice shots bunt. Looks like the colors are getting prime. I might have to go check it out this weekend.

Great colors bunt, that early storm really made the shot. I'll contrast your yellow with a field of purpple:

Stumbled across a few patches of Coral Fungus in the South San Juan Wilderness earlier this year. Neat stuff. Not terribly common.

To go with the bugs above - this little fellow turns into an Indra (Mountain) Swallowtail. http://butterfly.ucdavis.edu/view_image&img=19
Shame the focus wasn't perfect, I was anxious to keep moving, though. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...rderresize.jpg |

The Andes are stunning, such a varied mountain range. Amazing to see the snow and greenery on the same peak.
An old Elephant in Ngorongoro crater. I was told it is rare to see elephants this old as the ivory trade in the 70s and 80s killed most of the mature males. So while common to see 30 year old males today, 50 and 60 year olds, the ones with huge tusks, are much less common. This is the best shot I could get of him. He refused to look at the camera and every time we would move forward he would turn away from us. Holy jeez... he's all wrinkled. Sagging skin. Like an old human. So cool. His face too, he looks like an old man.
