I wouldn't call it yet, seeing as the 1337ft north tower was called a 1300ft building in that article. It is plausible that they just called it a 950ft building when it really is something like 988ft for example.

**EDIT**
34th and 8th supertall (the site is bigger so I'm guessing anything built here will be taller than the other one)
W34th and 7th near supertall

Moynihan Station air rights up for grabs
August 19, 2010 12:00PM

Moynihan Station: The state and the city have re-entered negotiations with Vornado Realty Trust and the Related Companies over the sale of 1 million square feet of air rights for the new Moynihan Station, according to Tim Gilchrist, the new president of the Moynihan Station Development Corp. The developers entered into an agreement with the state in 2006 to develop the Farley Post Office into a new train station and to use the air rights to build an adjacent mixed-use development topped by a 67-story tower, Crain's reported. But the plan, which included $110 million from the sale of the air rights, was never approved by the Public Authorities Control Board. Instead, the recession forced the state to split the development into two phases. Eventually, federal stimulus funding provided the final $83 million needed to build the $267 million first phase. The initial construction contracts were approved Monday, and now attention is turning to funding the $1 billion second phase. The Farley building -- which occupies the square block between 31st and 33rd streets and Eighth and Ninth avenues -- comes with 2.5 million square feet of transferable air rights. Related and Vornado have dibs on the first 1 million square feet, but the remaining 1.5 million are up for grabs. The agreement that gives Related and Vornado exclusive development rights expires in 2012. [Crain's]

One will rise on the southwest corner of 7th and W34th where the Footaction and Torneau stores are located.

The other will rise where this one-story Duane Reade is located, which is on the southeast corner of 34th and 8th.

Yeah, those height figures for the HY Project change constantly. Looking at the Equinox Tower rendering one can see the building has some sort of crown, so it's possible they got the wrong number.

Updated the rest.

360 10th avenue has been revived and it's probably somewhere between 700 and 800 feet tall.

Christmas coming early to New York... according to this DOB filing, the Nordstrom tower at 225 West 57th Street will have an occupied height of 1550 feet, meaning that with a crown and / or spire this one could break the 1600ft / 500m mark!

Just found this...

Quote:

Building Height (ft.): 1,550
Building Stories: 88
Dwelling Units: 233
So only 88 floors!? Crazy.

EDIT: Iirc the Nordstrom store should take about 250,000 sf to 300,000 sf. This could explain the low floor count.

The Nordstrom Tower is 225 W 57th St. ;) And yes, the new height is 1,550', it's major news since yesterday.
Take a look here: NEW YORK | 225 W 57th St (Nordstrom tower) | 1,550 FT | 88 FLOORS .

Amazing to see the once tallest building in NYC, the Empire State Building will likely be dropped to fourth tallest in a decade or so. A 2,000 footer is now realistically on the horizon.

If the top floor is 1550 feet there is no way that it will not break the 1600 mark, it could easily break the 1700 mark at that point.

Fardeb Nov 28, 2012 9:10 PM

The news about 225 West 57th could be a game changer if everything works out. No messing around with an antenna or spires or anything like that, just boom 1,550(likely 1600+ in the end).

Anyone planning on topping that will have to go big, even looking at it from a world scale. The way the people were talking about the Grand Central Tower you know they mean business about making an impact. There are still some good locations for people looking to go big in the greater Hudson Yards area too. It now actually wouldn't shock me if we saw one or two realistic proposals up in the 1800-2000 foot range.

Lets hope so! But if you look at the cancelled buildings you can see that not everything what is proposed will be build :(.

Don't worry, 225 W 57th St will be built. It doesn't need any approval because it's "as of right". Same goes with supertalls as One57 or 432 PA. That's why those towers shoot up so damn fast.

TowerVerre:) Dec 3, 2012 4:08 PM

yes i know but Tower Verre, Grand Central Tower and the Girasole. Grand Central tower for example is planned to be finished in 2020 and if they don t find financing for Tower Verre before the next financial crisis ? But lets hope that they all will be built :) =)

REIT unveils, names its massive new Midtown tower
December 03, 2012 04:00PM

http://therealdeal.com/wp-content/up...anderbilt1.png

"The city’s largest office landlord, SL Green Realty, released sketches today for its planned office tower, to be known as 1 Vanderbilt.

The company hired architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates to design the 1.55-million-square-foot building, which would be located on Midtown’s East Side in an area where the city is considering a zoning change to allow for taller and bulkier structures.

Isaac Zion, company co-chief investment officer, said the building as designed will not be financially feasible without the full 30 floor area ratio, which could be achieved only through the rezoning. The project is planned for a small block located jest east of Grand Central Terminal, bounded by 42nd and 43rd streets and Vanderbilt and Madison avenues, where SL Green now controls all the properties.

The designs were released at SL Green’s annual investor conference."

More great news!
