I was pretty close, the shot was from a handrail on a bridge
what my camera told me: Exposure: 0.025 sec (1/40) Aperture: f/2.8 Focal Length: 7.9 mm ISO Speed: 100 and of course, the macro was on. :) |
I've never seen a shot of a snowflake taken from that close!

This is a snapshot that turned out to be pretty cool. I still had the camera at f/8 and ISO 100 from the previous shot. I wasn't really paying attention to the settings, and the shutter speed ended up being 1/13 seconds. Even at 17mm, that's pretty slow for a handheld shot. But I was lucky and managed to hold the camera steadily enough to keep the background sharp while getting motion blur on the pedestrians.
