Vehicle Diagrams

Unfortunatly it is not recommended to insert, by the people who can does, vehicles to be included. So let's go in this thread and post your wonderfully made vehicles. So maybe some day this is reviewed again. Sorry, but Cranes of 200m high or huge oil platforms of more than 1000m of structure are much more nicier than barely spread residential buildings of 40m.

machines are awesome! they would look great on the diagrams .... : (

offshore structures are unmovable, so I guess they can be added

R@ptor May 26, 2014 2:55 PM

I really think we should stick to the actual topic of this website which are skyscrapers and highrise buildings.

That's why people are visiting this website and the diagrams. The moment you start adding all kind of things is the moment a lot of them willl turn away IMO.

No general ban of offshore structures and vehicles

In my opinion we should not generally ban offshore structures and vehicles.

Offshore structures should be handled as towers, as building offshore structures is a challenge of engineering. An offshore HVDC inverter plant is more remarkable as a 15-story building in a town!

In fact, each structure with a basement in a body of water can be considered as offshore in strict way and so even many bridges belong in this category.

Concerning vehicles my opinion is the following:

- trains: no - too low
- ships & aircraft: if taller than 50 metres, then yes
- cranes: permanent cranes should be added. Also Emporis has such objects in the database ( http://www.emporis.com/building/cont...amburg-germany )
- rockets: yes, if taller than 10 metres
- large excavators and other big machines: yes, if taller than 30 metres.

eduardo segundo May 27, 2014 4:48 AM

ships are megastructures that deserve to be in the charts!

Anders Franzén May 27, 2014 6:36 PM

I'm ok with permanent cranes, offshore structures and other unmovable structures. No ships etc. (Maybe except for Queen Mary that's permanently docked).

The focus of Skyscraperpage should be skyscrapers though. Anyone's free to start a vehicle diagram site.

I just want to add that I just tried searching the diagrams for ships. I saw Vehicles as an option and got excited, but nothing came up. I thought it was glitching out until I found this post.

Personally, I think ships/large movable structures should be listed. If not, at least get rid of the vehicles category, as it's incredibly misleading.

However in earlier days there were some entries. Can we not restore them?
