LaCaille on 4th Consensus

Courtesy of The Bow we have been giving the first real renderings of this proposal by LaCaille. Location is on 4th Avenue and 5th Street SW. A mixture of retail/office/hotel/residential. What do you think? Oh and yeah I enabled viewable voting, just so we can start some yelling at each other or something! :D

A new bar has been set. Without a doubt one of the finest proposals in the country - and considering LCaille has already applied for their DP, this one may be in the ground relatively soon. It'll be fantastic!

Looks very New York to me, lets just hope they don't market it as such. Great looking project.

Created a thread on it over in Highrise Proposals, we'll see what kind of feeback it gets there:

Is it really that much taller than the Rogers tower?

CMD UW Aug 3, 2007 5:10 PM

Very Toronto-ish design, I like it alot.

8.5/10

Also, Calgary is not Toronto, and never will be.

While I cringe saying it (for whatever reason) New York was the first thing I thought of. Not sure about the balconies on the upper levels, but I like it.

Also, on a side note, that rendering makes one realize that we have a dearth of 70's boom era brown midrise buildings that need to go, like the one nxt door in the rendering.

skrish Aug 3, 2007 5:17 PM

So far this project seems to be really well recieved.

I foresee Astoria type advertising for this one.

LOL, take pictures for the morning... get into the office... fire up SSP... and sweet new renderings!?!

DAMN, BOY! I'M EXCITED!

The design is going to look really sharp with Canterra, Altius Centre, and Centennial forming the backdrop.

Boris2k7 Aug 3, 2007 5:25 PM

Someone, copy this over to the Canada Proposals thread, I'm too lazy! :D

Me&You Aug 3, 2007 5:27 PM

I like the idea of a SoHo Met taking the hotel space!

Anyone know if there's anything to that, or is it simply for the rendering?

cre8ivjay Aug 3, 2007 5:29 PM

As far as I'm concerned, this design actually kicks but on the Bow. IMHO.

I know it's a Fosters design but aesthetically, this one is nicer in my eyes.

please be built please be built please be built.. oh and be at least 50 stories. ;)

Is the height actually published anywhere publicly available?

It should be around the 700' mark by my estimate.

caltrane74 Aug 3, 2007 5:41 PM

700 feet eh?

That would make it as tall (same hieght) as the Ritz currently under construction in Toronto. The Ritz Toronto is currently the 3rd tallest u/c in Canada at the moment. If this goes into development shortly, Calgary would have the 1 & 3 tallest under construction in Canada. (the Bow and the Soho Calgary??)

WHISTLERINMUSKOKA Aug 3, 2007 5:58 PM

Nice looking hope it goes ahead like that. And a few of you on here that have bashed the Trump design but like this one :koko: same style if you ask me.
