Interesting comment on the model:

What have you just seen? A model of Los Angeles, built by the WPA from 1938-40, for the purposes of city planning (via which they evidently deduced “it all goes!”)…on a related note, this model was once many, many times larger. The County (whose infinite wisdom never ceases to inspire) dumpster’d the majority of it in the 70s.

Incredible, just throwing it out. May someone have wanted to buy it, or take it for free? I mean, really.

Yeah, you rite. I had some bad information there. But I'm SURE that Bright Eyes was filmed there.

Re "Bright Eyes"--there may have been scenes actually filmed at Grand Central, but the airplane interior was a mockup with process film seen through the windows.

Actually looking at the vintage shot, to the right of the bridge is a sort of retaining embankment, could it be the one above, would put the bridge about where the railings are I reckon

"Opened in 1938, the only part of the old El Miro Theatre that is left is the facade. The theater was razed in the late 80’s and the newer Cineplex Broadway 4 Theatre is located on that site now."

This part of Third Street is now Third Street Promenade, so there's no Streetview image. This one was taken from Broadway.
