Toronto is really impressive, but still felt a bit smaller/shorter than Chicago overall, but yea it's comparable.

I think Dubai and Kuala Lumpur are the only two non-NYC sized cities I can think of that easily compare to / surpass Chicago.

Which East Asian cities are you referring to?
