Related, Oxford want to raise another $380M in EB-5 funds for Hudson Yards

I went back and read some of the firs few pages. I wonder if people really knew just how big of a project Hudson Yards was going to be. I know I didn't. All I knew is that there were going to be a few towers and a subway extension. But I wasn't on this forum back then.

Is the crane atop 10 Hudson Yards (Coach Tower) a permanent feature? For window washing, I assume? It really subtracts from the look of the crown, imo.
There was so much attention to the materials and the angular form; the crown doesn't really jive with an industrial element like that. It looks like an afterthought. |
^It's permanent and retracts into the crown when not in use. One57 does the same. Pretty standard stuff.
|
Pretty much all of the new glass towers have it these days.
|
Ok glad it retracts. It would be a bummer if it was permanently deployed.
|
^ well they do have it out quite a bit. the glass on that bldg might be the most spotless and clean in town. its quite a lot of glass -- as well as ongoing hy construction dust around it.

Most attractive so far: 35 because I love the stony pleats on the base and the overall warm tint of the building. Especially good look at sunset.
Most interesting: 15 HY with integrated Culture Shed. Most inviting and impressive: 30 HY the tallest of the group with public observation deck. Because of speed of construction, carefully contrasting designs and not last but not least seeing Vessel go up, HY has been fun to watch grow, not requiring patience of the WTC site. IMHO. |

that makes me worried about my health insurance if they are selling off property. :uhh:  hopefully they just bowed out at what they thought was a peak deal. |

Are there any preliminary plans for a "Stage 2" over the remainder of the train yard to the west? Is that even possible?

has everyone read this existential takedown of hudson yards?
Superhuman City Hudson Yards, a mega-neighborhood built from scratch, comes into view. By Justin Davidson Related hired a bouquet of architects as a hedge against corporate uniformity. Then it imposed corporate uniformity on them all. more: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...son-yards.html |
