Thank you FredH. The Santa Fe Freight Depot actually hasn't come up in a while.
A quarter mile long and taller than the Empire State Building (if one stood it on end that is).
I do like skinny buildings. A nice instance of adaptive reuse:

The Arts District (east of Alameda) is a whole different place from the Warehouse District. More expensive for one, although I notice they want almost a million bucks for the Rat Lab back at 8th & Ceres:

Palms
 

I would love to see that.

Palms are so easy to move (so I'm told). Palm brokers go around buying them from people's yards to dress up new development.

I remember watching the original matched set of eleven or twelve palms being installed on the plaza at 444 S Flower (corner of 5th) thirty years ago and wondering about their prior history. Some have been replaced by shade trees and I notice the crowns of the remaining ones are tied up in the 2012 overhead shot on Google maps, meaning they must be on the move again (unless they're incoming replacements).

I sure miss the set of palms pinned against the west side of Clements' Carnation Milk building on Wilshire. Those were the best. Great shadows.

That miniature golf park was Gittleson Brother's, where they also had table tennis and other simple pleasures from another time.

I've been intrigued by this block of E. 3rd Street for quite some time. Two buildings on the periphery of the Santa Fe Freight Depot
have the old Santa Fe logo incorporated into their architecture (both are located further west on E. 3rd St.).

I'm trying to find out the history of this building.
It looks as if it could have been a school (doubtful in this area) or a post office (note the flag pole). Does anyone know?

The Neustadt house was at the northwest corner of Adams and Western, facing Western. It was bought only a year or so after being built by J. T. Central Station/Arcade Depot, 1930
 

Here's an aerial from an angle we don't see all that often. The Central Station replaced the Arcade Depot in 1914 and was bigger still. It appears at the lower left. At this distance you can get a nice sense of scale. The thing was humongous.
