there is actually a small construction shack on the east side of the property by the gate now…. and a few more signs from the survey team!

So, I'm wondering... will they do the roads or the building first?

I imagine it would be at the same time since city would be building the road/bridge and developers would be working on the first lot.

JoninATX Feb 13, 2014 6:13 PM

Both are funded, so there is going to be alot of construction in that area. Gets me excited to see this project come to friction.

Was just thinking that someone should very kindly and convincingly send the GreenWater people a message asking them to set up an OxBlue webcam for us. :D

I was going to go by and look at it after work (I'm sure they've moved a lot more dirt by now), but it didn't seem worth it in that traffic. I'd have to take 35. Nope!

Also, Jon, I think you meant fruition, not friction.

I think he was a victim of auto correct. :D

Lol... thanks for catching that you 2. I will add that my tablet has a mind of it's only sometimes. :)

You sure that's not the site where they're building that 10-story parking garage that will kill the Austin skyline ?

So, I was thinking that one of the biggest beneficiaries of this development will be the Austin Music Hall. It has been somewhat isolated over there on a double dead end behind a ballet center and a gigantic, dull parking garage, which arguably needs to be torn down and replaced with something cool. Eventually, all three roads (2nd, 3rd, and Nueces) will extend (I'm not sure when work on the 3rd St. extension will get underway), but for now just extending Nueces and 2nd will do wonders for the Austin Music Hall. People will finally be able to access it from one of Austin's busiest roads (Cesar Chavez) and they'll be able to walk down a scenic, fun 2nd street from one music venue (Austin Music Hall) to another (ACL Live). Not to mention walking over to hear a talk by a public speaker at the library during South by Southwest or see a movie at Violet Crown. (If only Seaholm was being turned into a museum.) Ballet Austin will also greatly benefit from this. The whole area will become a lot more integrated and functional. You could easily spend a whole day just in that little area. I can't wait.

I was just complaining about that awful parking garage today. If you ask me, both it and the... Aesthetic nightmare that the Hobby Building is both need to go because honestly high-density development on both lots would easily absorb the parking lost by getting rid of the State Parking Garage

I am so excited about this, mostly I'm looking forward to being able to just walk out of the 360 and head south on Nueces to get to 2nd St. with wide sidewalks instead of having to walk around Ballet Austin and stumble over the cracked concrete mess that the sidewalks on the west side of San Antonio between Cesar Chavez and 3rd are.

I personally feel that that kind of integration with the street connections will really really benefit businesses located at the 360 because at San Antonio the shopping on 2nd just dead-ends and this'll put it right through to Seaholm with retail along the way... I feel like I've been waiting on this for an eternity.

Sorry for rambling, I just have a lot of feelings.

I e-mailed Trammel Crow about possibly getting a webcam set up. So we'll see what happens.

Awesome, hopefully they'll consider it. :)

Lots of dirt moving now!

They also started paving a rather large detour for the sidewalk along Water Ave. What they are up to?? Maybe they will use the current sidewalk area as a staging area for trucks?

lzppjb Feb 21, 2014 11:20 PM

Maybe they'll be digging up that tree?
