In the Portland panorama, I think that's Mt. St. Helens to the north (the rounded, snow capped peak). That's definitely Mt. Hood to the east.

KevinFromTexas Jun 24, 2012 4:11 AM

There's another peak showing up behind the mountain range. I guess it's Mount Rainier? Portland and Seattle have to be the prettiest settings for a city in the US. I guess Honolulu would qualify, too, but the views in those two West Coast cities are just spectacular.

Kevin, do you mean the one that barely shows up in the distance to the right of St. Helen's? That may be Mt. Adams. I'm only going by what I'm seeing on Google Earth, though. Maybe some Portland forumers will help on this.

Nice panarama, although it makes downtown and the TMC look so far away, yet they are pretty close to where you took the photo.

I'm not a Portland forum-er but i spent sometime in Washington State, and you're right. St. Helens is the round top on the left, Adams is just peeking out from behind a lower range closer in to its right, and Hood is looking like the pointy stratovolcano that it is to the right of Adams.

^ No offense, but Pittsburgh (Pg 1) has a real underwhelming skyline...It's hard to believe that it's metro is something like 2.5 million..No a bad thing..Just sayin'. Great city by all accounts.Lots of suburbs and exhurbs I suppose..Love that last shot of L.A btw

I'm quite certain that you're in the extreme minority on that one. Pittsburgh has an absolutely gorgeous, well balanced skyline, in my opinion, and it's not just the skyscrapers either. It's the hills, and the river, and the bridges...

That angle doesn't show many of the downtown buildings since they are stacked behind each other:

It's also interesting that you like the one of downtown LA, which is known for having a very underwhelming skyline for it's population size.
