Trying to determine if buildings exist in Japan or not.
 

I'm doing some research for a video, and I would appreciate input from members here.

In the 1997 anime film The End of Evangelion, there is some live action footage of Japan, including a tracking shot with some skyscrapers off in the background.

The assumption is that these buildings are an effect shot, and don't exist in reality, and is just trying to emulate the look of the architecture seen in the television series:

I'm fairly sure this is an effect shot, possibly miniature. While I think CG was good enough at the time to pull this off convincingly, not for an animated film from Japan.

Any thoughts? Can anyone confirm that buildings like this do not exist anywhere in Japan?

pretty sure op wanted to know if the buildings seen in evangelion anime were real or not. i don’t think so, they seem generic, but i’m not positive.
