Great photos! When do we expect FT to break the skyline?

NYC4Life Sep 7, 2010 6:50 PM

Not sure if it's 100% accurate, but Mayor Bloomberg mentioned during today's WTC update press conference the tower is currently at 36 stories.

Since prints are posted before the construction has reached that area I was wondering how accurate the have been so far.

nice shots!
@NYC4Life: i think they reached the 36th floor some time ago... from lowermanhattan.info:

Great pics NYGuy !

It's seams like every new set of pics shows more crane decks. (The blue platform on the south side for example.)

Could they still make changes to these Prints? Or are they final.

The two prints I posted are from the final revision of the Architectural set, (There is also a structural set, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fire protection, Security, Landscaping, etc.).

From there the respective contractors make shop drawings based on the set or sets of drawings mentioned above. The shop drawings are reviewed and any changes or corrections are made. The building is constructed using the final approved shop drawings.

On a building this size there are bound to be changes made during construction. Any changes to the shop drawings are made and they move on.

Sometimes they even have what's called "As Built" drawings. Something got done that doesn't match any of the prints, but it works out, so they just issue a print showing what actually exists.

There really isn't a "Final" set of prints.

Could someone clarify the part in the article that mentions a 56 storey glass pavilion? Is that a typographical error? Or is it referring to one of the other towers such as 2, 3, 4 or 5?

Quote:

Today, one of two steel tridents from the original tower foundations was lowered into place. The two large steel structures, salvaged from the wreckage after the Sept. 11 attacks, will eventually form the focal point of a 56-story glass pavilion topping the underground museum. The second column is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday

OneWorldTradeCenter Sep 8, 2010 5:56 PM

:previous: 56 stories is for sure wrong.... That would be the height of the Woolworth Building, taller than 7 WTC
