Project is in the process of getting a sales office open. Positive news as this means that its on its way to sprouting over this great skyline.

It's a pretty design, but there's really nothing Flatironish about it. The piano music and the comparison to the NYC Flatiron in the Vimeo seemed misplaced for a Miami tower. I doubt there are even 10% as many New Yorkers who buy condos in this building as Brazilians.

Nonetheless, I love the design. Ugo continues to get it done.

Brickell Flatiron Moving Forward Without Allen Morris Park

http://i.imgur.com/gE263T5.jpg

Quote:

Developers of the 552-unit Brickell Flatiron are proceeding with plans to build the tower without using land that is currently Allen Morris park.

In 2006, the city approved a MUSP for an Enrique Norten-designed tower at the site which excluded the park land. The developers intend to submit a modification to that MUSP that largely retains the original footprint of the tower, regardless of the outcome of a lawsuit by Allen Morris against the city over the park.

Groundbreaking for the 65-story tower is set for January 2015. Reservations are currently underway, and a sales gallery will open in October.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON BRICKELL FLATIRON SALES CENTER

Quote:

Construction fences have gone up & dirt is now moving at 1001 S Miami Avenue where Brickell Flatiron will have its new sales center. Reservations have been going at rapid pace since the spring opening, with buyers putting 20% deposit of the estimated sales price (averaging around $550/ft).

While the sales center will be located in the Brickell Flatiron Park to the south of the metromover track, the building itself will be constructed on the lot just to the north. This is the lot where Baru Urbano is currently located as well as a parking lot and Allen Morris Park. Allen Morris park will be preserved and Baru Urbano will be closing in the fall. Construction on the development begins in January 2015.

This tower of soaring glass with sweeping exposures is contrasted by the romance of Renaissance, revival interiors with a modern edge. Panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline are enhanced by wide, elliptical terraces.

CMC Preparing To Break Ground 65-Story Brickell Flatiron

Glad this is moving along.

15% of the tower is reserved.

I really like the looks of this building. The glass on it looks really good and the interior finishes are pretty cool too. I visited the sales center on my trip down to Miami about a week ago and it was amazing. They had million dollar pieces of art hanging all over the place and lots of other cool things in there. I must say that one thing that I dont like about balconies is that my neighbor would go out and smoke on his balcony and I wouldn't be able to enjoy mine. Anyways, here are a couple pictures of the site.

See that the density of Brickell is starting to go a little inland. This is amazing.

Yeah, Miami has density, but it is not close to Manhattan. It's going to take years to actually make Downtown and surrounding areas more walkable, but it will be possible if public transportation dramatically becomes more robust, aiding future development throughout the entire metro area. Miami might never reach New York's levels, but it will soon be the sole Southern city to say hi to Chicago and Philly.

dave8721 Jan 8, 2015 2:17 PM

^^^Would look even denser if they included U/C buildings Bond, SLS, 1010 Brickell, Brickell Heights and SLS Lux all in those couple of blocks. Of course its best for their sales not to show those buildings completely blocking in Flatiron's views on all sides for the bottom 50 floors or so.

^ that is the story of most miami podiums unfortunately.

They applied with the FAA to build up to 731 feet

http://www.thenextmiami.com/index.ph...goes-640-feet/

chris08876 Jan 21, 2015 8:03 PM

Hopefully the FAA agrees. This is a very nice design, and at that height, it will get noticed. Not bad for the area. Will fit in nicely with the surroundings based on the renderings.

Baru Will Be Demolished By The End Of This Month To Make Way For Brickell Flatiron

http://i.imgur.com/A22B37d.png

Quote:

Brickell Flatiron will be a step closer to the start of construction later this month.

Demolition of the former Baru building on the site will be complete by the end of March, according to a source at the developer. Crews are awaiting one final permit approval before beginning work.

With the start of conversions of reservations into contracts in mid-January, one-third of the 548 units at the project had been reserved, the developers have said.

City officials are still processing the request of the developer to modify the previous MUSP, which had been submitted in 2006 by another developer with Enrique Norten as architect. A decision is expected soon.

The developers also recently submitted their plans to the FAA, listing a height of exactly 700 feet above ground.
